As we wrap up our 2024 Mentoring Programme, we’re taking a moment to reflect on this year’s participants’ incredible journeys and achievements. The programme, designed to empower young women and non-binary changemakers, continues to make a real difference by supporting them to thrive in green and sustainable careers.
Through the shared experiences of our mentors and mentees, it’s clear that mentoring is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth. It provides guidance, encouragement, and the confidence and clarity needed to take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future.
Here’s what some of this year’s catalysts had to say about their mentoring experiences:
“This was my first time working with a mentor. The experience is valuable as it makes me talk to someone who gives me quality guidance and fresh insights. Having someone to bounce ideas off and get feedback from is super helpful, and it definitely gave me confidence.” — Annika
“A key learning for me from my mentoring experience has been working with my own abilities and strengths, especially as an individual who is neurodivergent. I urge everyone to consider mentorship as the perspective and self-belief it has given me is invaluable.” — Ellis
“My mentor was incredibly patient in supporting me through my decision-making process, and along with her practical advice, this had a transformative effect on my ability to organise and structure my thought process and take action towards my goals.” — Izzy
“It’s fantastic to receive career mentorship, as it can significantly enhance your career progression as you tap into the wealth of experiences that experts offer. Starting with blurry goals is perfectly okay; the key is to actively engage and strive to develop more clarity on your roadmap by the end of the mentorship programme. I highly recommend the Catalyst Summit and mentoring programme for a comprehensive and enriching experience in your career development journey.” — Purity
“This was my first time having a mentor, and I found the whole process very easy and positive. It has helped me develop my confidence and knowledge of what I need to do to get into this competitive industry. I have been shown courses and networking events that will be beneficial. Everyone should definitely apply for mentoring as you are able to have all your questions answered by someone who has been in the same position as you before.” — Sophie
To all our mentors and mentees, thank you for your commitment, passion, and openness. You’ve made this year’s programme a resounding success. Your drive to create a greener, more inclusive future is truly inspiring, and we’re honored to be part of your journey.
Many thanks also to our partners OneUpOneDown who provided the mentoring software for this pilot programme, which helped us trial a system which will help us to both expand and run it more effectively. Thanks also to Rhian Sherrington from Women in Sustainability for again providing excellent training for our mentors.
We’d love to hear from you! If you’d like to share your feedback or showcase your mentoring experience on our blog or social media, please get in touch with Traci at traci@catalysechange.com.
