Catalyse Change

Our mission is to ignite the ambitions of young women with the skills and belief to catalyse the change they want to see in the world.

Sustainable and inclusive development is critical for a peaceful and prosperous world; and gender equality is key to achieving sustainability. At Catalyse Change we focus on ways we can inspire and skill young women to be the next generation of change-agents. By providing them with inspiration and knowledge ‘to be the change they wish to see' in the world, we seek to tackle gender equality and sustainability by working with the very people who will realise that change.

Why Women?

Gender inequality remains a key challenge. Britain has one of the worst records on gender equality at work, and men continue to fill the majority of the highest paid and most senior roles. Women also continue to be under-represented in leadership roles, in particular, those that influence policy. Yet, as identified by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, gender equality is key to creating an inclusive and sustainable world.

By 2030…

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to end poverty, combat inequalities and promote prosperity while protecting the environment. “Women and girls make up more than half the world’s population — and they are on the frontlines — often more deeply impacted than men and boys by poverty, climate change, food insecurity, lack of healthcare, and global economic crises. Their contributions and leadership are central to finding a solution.”

What is Mentoring & Why is Having a Mentor Important?

Bethany Stephenson who recently attended our Bristol Young Women’s Catalyst Meet-up has written us a blog about mentoring, to help increase understanding of the process and benefits as we recruit for our new mentoring programmes. “When mentored, you are not just being given advice backed by your mentor’s knowledge, skills and experience but you are also motivated and empowered.” Hi, I’m Bethany and I became aware of Catalyse Change CIC at a networking event run by Babbasa (for more details…

Ironing out the ‘Bumps’ in Sustainable Clothing

The sheer quantity of clothes a fast-growing newborn baby can get through is astonishing, as any new mum can attest to. For the vast majority, these clothes are thrown straight into landfill, disregarding the environmental cost of production, increasing the pollution already overwhelming our Earth, and overlooking the remaining value of the garments to others. ‘Belles and Babes’ is a Bristol-based company tackling this problem head on with its range of stylish maternity and baby clothes to hire. After use,…
